BLOG: YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT

EP #06

 I have decided that I don't always need to have an opinion or something to say in a crowd or with friends.

This is not something I thought I would ever say, if you know me, you will know. I just know it is time for me to take what I say seriously. There is power in the tongue, I can choose to speak life or death..(that is for another episode though.)

Your life might be low key at the moment, no responsibility on you for the words you speak. However, there may come a time in the future, where what you have previously said, will come back up. 

I am not saying this to scare you, I am saying this to prepare you....

I am now preparing for my future by choosing my words wisely. 

​

It says in Proverbs 17:27-18 in the NIV 'The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.'

There will always be a time to speak up or defend yourself, but do you always need to.

There will always be an opportunity for you to give your opinion in group hangs, but do you always need to give your opinion?

​

This is what I now ask myself before I speak.....If this was recorded would I say it? If this was filmed would I say it? If not.....I have the RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.

Maybe you can choose to ask yourself this before you speak next time...for the future you to be grateful and not have harmed loved ones or yourself on the journey..
